New Years reflections
I've been thinking for the past couple of weeks about my life this year, and figured I would post it up here since its been awhile without a post. First off I just have to say that I hate being alone in the office. It is crazy quiet and with Lotus Notes going down yesterday about 2pm, I can't even email people on campus. GRRR! But at least I was able to get out of work early today since I couldn't do much of anything. Other than today and yesterday it has been dead in the office. I'm talking 1 phone call per day, and those have been from on campus. Those of you who know me can figure out that I've been going a little stir crazy. Here is my reflection of this past year:
Jan: Start the new year with friends in Chicago. Good times had by all. Started the interview process for the Assistant director job, including one day of having to make orientation application copies in my suit and run them to KU because they were out of them. That was an interesting afternoon. Got reaquainted with a couple of old friends. Also made a trip out to Erie and went sking and got a mad crush on someone in Erie.
Feb: Hired as the Assistant Director. Yay! Full time gig for me
April: First big conference of higher education people. I think there was something like 5500 people there. It was in Nashville which I never saw myself going to. I did get to go to the Grande Olde Opry and sit in the 5th row. Not many people can say that. This was also the month of getting my first taste of Baltimore and loving the city. It was mucho fun.
May: Get a wedding invitation in the mail about a wedding in Nashville. Me who does not like country music ends up in Nashville twice in 3 weeks. It was freaky.
June: Another of the summer weddings. Ended up falling madly in love.
July: Heart is smashed by a gal and loose someone I thought was a good friend. One breaking up with me because a guy wrote her a song, the other accusing me of things I would never do and then and then ends up not wanting to talk about it like a normal human being. Wrote those two out of my life. Luckily my first trip to Pittsburg helped me out =) There was a huge wedding in here sometime too.
August: First time doing orientation as an official person. Also had to train quickly the new Grad Assistant.
Sept: 2nd trip out to Baltimore. It was really fun and went to an awesome piano bar. I also went to Columbus to get reaquainted with a high school friend.
Oct: My best friend gets married and got to see a whole bunch of people that i had not seen in a long time. Also my first trip to a casino and ran Parents Weekend. Got in touch with a long lost friend who I still talk to today.
Nov: Annual thanksgiving feast at the house. Good times had by all.Car taken into the shop for a fix of the ABS.
Dec: Car taken into the shop again for the center lights that burned out on the way home from the annual xmas party. New years is looking like nothing big. Christmas full of warm things (lots of blankets, coat, and gloves).
Overall it was a good year. Made a bunch of new friends and had some cool trips. Next year is the trip to California =) Hope everyone had a great holiday season and Happy new YEar!
