I did it. I cleared up some memory on my computer by deleting 91 folders worth of music. It wasn't easy, but I just went ahead and did it. First, I set up my iPod so it no longer automatically updates. That means I have to manually update songs, but the positive is that I don't have to store everything I want on my iPod on my computer. At 14.5 GB, it was too much, especially since it will eventually be 20. The Pod is an external hard drive on its own, so it's time that I treat it as such.
So I deleted any album that I actually own an actual copy of, keeping downloads and albums I only have burned copies of. Which is the sensible thing to do, but means I no longer have everything at my fingertips, my auto playlists will be messed up, and making mix CDs will take longer (in that I'll have to re-rip tracks if I need them). But, we were down to about 30 MBs of memory, so something needed to be done. I think we should be good for now, so I should go out and download more music.
