Vandygirl invasion.
Yesterday i saw a group of "vandy girls" at school. At law school. Each year's class is generally either the hard working, no fun type, the current 2Ls, the we're going to go out and have fun types, us, the 3Ls, and then there's the inbetweens, where the class is clearly divided.
However, as our school is making a push to gain ranking, they have been on a kick, a very expensive kick, of attracting students from all over the nation. We now have students from 49 states and Peurto Rico in the 1L class, many of them tuition free.
Well, back to the vandy girls, theres a group of 7-15 girls all from the north east, acording to my 1L sources, who all came here together. They all knew each other or are from the same sorority at various NE colleges and they made a concerted decision to attend a southern school.
It is immediately noticeable that they stand out among the other students. While we do have former Miss Alabama and Mississippi in my third year class, these girls outdo everything. The trademark BMWs and Land Rovers are now parked next to each other in the lot. The clothes are expensive and the makeup and hairdos are flawless at 8am everyday (the 1Ls got screwed on scheduling). Its kind of creepy, as they all hang out together and look alike.
It will be interesting to se what parties and stuff will be like, since they seemingly took just about every 1L position on the student government board. i was glad people were relaxed when i came here, and this will be interesting. im glad ill be done in December.
