Class in Boston

Taught the class at Boston's Blues Union. It went well! Well attended with students that worked hard throughout the class and did a fine job of practicing the material. I taught a class on texture and changing elements of your dance while just doing weight shifts. It completely didn't go as I planned, yet it still felt like it ran smoothly. I am getting more comfortable with allowing classes to go with the flow and not worrying about sticking exactly to the game plan. It felt like the end product worked a lot better than what I had planned. It's also reassuring to know that my confidence in my dancing and in teaching the material has grown to a point where I feel free to explain concepts for which I haven't necessarily prepared.

Boston's Blues scene is still in it's infancy, but I think it's growing in a healthy way. It helps that they have excellent individuals like Julie, Ogden, and Amanda as leaders in the scene. It was also fun to be in such demand at the dance. People were constantly coming up and asking me to dance. It's a blast to go to a new scene and have people so excited to dance with you.
