My left has been aching real badly lately... I don't know why. Bah!
There's a weekly live gig on Thursdays at the Green Dragon. Bob Shoemaker plays some really great tunes, especially when he sees us dancing and knows we dig the slow grooves. Joshua Keroes has been following him for quite some time; they have a strong enough rapport that Joshua can request songs for them to play. It's like Joshua is DJing a live band.
Lots of people showed up for the blues bomb yesterday. It was a ton of fun, much good dancing to be had. We even got a group of spectators interested and gave them cards to Tuesday Blues. The night has a really good vibe - I hope we continue to organize groups to go out and dance. There are few things is life so fine as ~16 dancers gathering to dance in public.
Incidentally, I will no longer be teaching swing classes at UP. (Aww). It's time, though: we lost our prime 7-9pm slot. Timing aside, Karissa and I are just tired. By the end of last semester, we were both completely spent. It'll be nice to have Thursdays back - especially with this weekly dig!
Portland really is a great city. Just when I think I'm getting a little down on the dance scene, it somehow reminds me of its strength. I've been out dancing almost every night of the week and have been enjoying it immensely.
Tonight there's an alternative blues bomb at The Album Leaf concert. The fun never ends. I just hope I can keep my energy levels up: I anticipate another long day at work.
