ever since i got my binoculars and put my eyeballs up to it, one of the birds i had really wanted to see was a SNIPE! this is because i always thought it was made up since young boys will tell other young boys that they're going "snipe hunting" and of course it's all in good fun because there aren't actually supposed to be any snipes since they're made up... or i dunno, but that was always my take on it. WELL there really is a snipe in a grassy wetland near you! more specifically, a wilson's snipe.
anyway, gina and i saw one at jeanne laffitte national park last weekened. we were actually only a few feet away and didn't need the binocular.
not too long ago i saw a belted kingfisher!
