i agree, the three red lights are a classy way of letting the xbox 360 owner that something is AMISS! i can imagine the system designers talking about the red lights.

1st dude - "man, there's a good chance a lot of peoples' xbox 360's are going to break."
2nd dude - "yeah, you're right. we should add some red LEDS to let them know exactly when this has happened."
