This is a pilot picspam for Daybreak - the entire episode. It's an attempt at a positive look at the episode, even though I don't particularly feel positive about any of it, so it'll come off as snarky at times.
It has a... different approach to the whole episode. It's no secret I abhorred that script and its dialogue, but this is an attempt to come to terms with the finale - not with what we heard, or even saw, necessarily, but what was between the lines.
Disclaimer: like I mentioned, this is an attempt to come to terms with that ending. I'll never like that ending, I don't think it was a fair ending to the characters, and I wish it hadn't ended like that. For my full opinion and ranting about the finale, please feel free to check out my recent entries - they're all public, and all convey my sense of frustration, heartbreak, confusion and emotional conflict.
Soulmates vs. destiny: this picspam contains an overuse of the word soulmate(s). I believe, with all my heart, that Kara and Lee are true soulmates. I do realize that the narrower meaning of the word is "destined to be together" but I hate how the theme of destiny was handled on the show - Kara's destiny left her with no choice. So I view Kara and Lee as soulmates who tried to swim against the stream, time after time, since Kara's destiny didn't/wouldn't/couldn't allow for them to be together in this life for more than a few brief stolen moments. That's how I see UB now, as Kara and Lee flipping destiny off for one night.
Subjectivity: this post is completely subjective. It's not even how I feel, it's how part of me has been able to spin this episode to try to heal just a tiny bit of my broken heart. Please take everything with a grain of salt.
