529: Quick and Dirty Update...

Dec 17, 2008 00:19

The past few days have been spent in determined trecks of thrifting and downloading--clothes and music make Andy happy.

Today I spent quite a bit of time in the Good Will on Fulton--didn't get to Crossroads or Target as planned (and much needed), but got quite a score: some cute flared jeans and some purple shorts (now I have something to exercise in other than the khaki shorts!), an original LP of Carole King's Tapestry, and three more books: very new-seeming copies of Jeffrey Eugenides' Middlesex (now if only I could find The Virgin Suicides!) and the first book of A Series of Unfortunate Events (all shiny, too!) and one be-yellowed copy of Isabelle Allende's The House of the Spirits. It all cost exactly the amount of money I had: $15.50.

Phew! Last night, as well, I got myself some food, so I haven't been starving--and it's nice to see that, left to my own devices, I'm not the most unhealthy eater out there: there was a sale on pomegranates and mangos, and I assuaged my addiction to that spicy V8.

Meanwhile, I just checked my account, and that weird hold-charge thingie disappeared, thank the Virgin, so I have slightly more money than I thought I did. No cause to splurge, certainly, but at least now I don't feel so tightened!

Good thing, too. Going to see some movies in the next couple of days--I might see Milk at the Tower if I can find someone to go with me; if not, I'm at least seeing the one with the Swedish vampires at the Crest with Mike tomorrow night. (Unfortunately, Cat can't come--such a pity, as she loves teh vampyres so! :( ) There's another movie at the Tower I might want to see with Mike, called Slumdog Millionaire. I'll let you know how these are...

Tomorrow I also have to get me to Target, though, and see about procuring some mittens, scarf, hat, etc. so I don't totally freeze to death! I exaggerate slightly, but I also need blank cds, too, as I promised to burn some music for Mike while I was at it...

Okay, off to enjoy what little alone time I'm getting here late at night at my mom's place... Remind me next time to talk about a) the music, b) the writing, c) grades and d) other plans for the break. (This is a note for myself, see...)
