So, I was just typing
copperwise's ear off about how busy I am... and how that's absolutely wonderful.
But, basically, I was thinking I should keep y'all up to date on these things, because, after all, what's the point of a livejournal then? (And I know
jeremytblackwill make me swallow my words about me saying "whatever you want it to be"; and to him I will say, "Suck my dick already, Jer!")
But seriously... "What is it--pray tell us, Andy!--that you're so busy doing?!" you may well ask.
And I may well answer (thusly): "Have you seen my little schedule notebook?"
Yes, I now have so many activities each day that I need to list 'em all out and regularly consult said little notebook. It mostly consists of classes, meetings I have to get to, or any other activities--but it is fairly cluttered and a little disorganized, because stuff may change, depending.
And I had started to try and explain everything I've been doing and have to do--but that would come out way too rambly. I don't even know where to start, apart from to say, briefly, what sort of things I've gotten myself involved in this year, and possibly for next year, and go from there:
--KPoet: got "
The Mann Show", which you all know and love. (But that's only an hour, two a week, tops.)
--part of the new student magazine,
the BBC (Beta Beta Cappa); rep on Media Council for that. We *finally* got back together to organize today, so hopefully we can get this thing all laid out this week (most of my weekend will be dedicated to that, and as much as I can fit in during the week). I know
unwomanhas been waiting for this one with bated breath...;P
--starting Ye Olde Club (
The Gender Club); I finally got my paperwork in today, and hopefully we can get approved by the ICC (Inter-Club Council) tomorrow... I dunno for sure. Apart from the fact that I can't accurately predict whether they will sign off on the recommendation or not, I don't know if I got my paperwork in soon enough to be able to take my rec to this meeting... *crosses fingers* (If we *do* get approved, I will begin attending those meetings as rep for the Gender Club...)
--getting involved in QC; apart from the opinion piece I'm doing this week (be sure to post that), I'm looking to become a copy-editor and possibly Editor of the Opinions Section next year. Lots of seniors graduating, so they're looking for new blood...
Goals for next year, just 'cause I'm crazy:
--if I get involved in Video Production Club, somehow, I will officially be involved in every publication represented on Media Council (except for the Year Book--but I'm sure I'll show up in there somewhere anywhow...)
--farther into the future, I want to be a French tutor, or otherwise Andy Wallis's bitch... (This will most likely happen after I do study abroad, I would think, or if I somehow demonstrate my mastery of the French language... which, I don't have yet...XP)
--Oh, and at some point, it might be nice to be a peer tutor/mentor, whatev, for one of the Freshman Writing Seminars. Or at the very least TA one of the English classes. I'm sure this will happen as I become (inevitably, of course) one of the Departments darlings... (Hey, I already won the
Newsom! ;D)*
*Lauren actually told me that Freshmen don't often win this... Also, Geiger liked my first essay enough to use it as an example, so I think I'm rather making a good start, dontchyatink? ;D)
All of this, of course, in addition to my English/French double major and Gender and Women Studies minor.
...
Okay, when did I turn around and suddenly become SO crazy?
Well, I didn't get to do any extra-curricular shit in high school (one of the draw backs of Ye Olde Charter), so I guess I'm making up for lost opportunity. And I always had this potential in me... and I've said before I work better when I have more demands on my time. It's when I'm given too much free time that I tend to do poorly...
It just gets me thinking about how much I've changed, but also how it's more like I've finally seized my opportunity, and I'm making the most of it... y'know?*
(More on this topic to come...)
