American vs. European work ethic
i've seen alot of talk about this issue lately, with conservatives criticizing the french by calling them 'slackers', and this article seems pretty definitive to me.

it's made me do alot of thinking though, about my career when i'm older, even about right now. even this month i had to weigh the choice of taking time off to go on a family vacation, or working as much as possible to make all the money i can get my hands on.
it's kind of sickening to think that americans are (unknowingly?) losing some of the more important values in their fervent pursuit of money
