Missed it by THAT much.

Well, I didn't watch TV at all yesterday, although I did watch some of the Cyndi Lauper Behind the Music. I was pretty busy with other things, but I wasn't really in the mood to re-live the past year's events...not yet anyways.
That is until I got onto LJ tonight....everybody speaking their minds about the day, the country, etc. etc. This is the problem with Live Journal. When you write in a "normal" journal you usually write knowing that only you will see it. When you write a "Live" Journal, you know that others will see it, and I think it changes your attitude.
In turn, this makes it harder to comment/criticize people's Live Journals. I don't know how seriously to take them. I don't know if people just write what they are thinking at that particular moment, or if they have thought it over for years, and they're dropping the "elightenment" bomb on us because we need it.
Usually when I read something odd, strange, or just plain bizarre, I just let it go, because I'm not really in the mood to rock the boat. But tonight, I just couldn't help it.
I was reading Talmanes' journal about 9/11, and the responses that followed....and I could say a million things about them.....but all I can say is SLOPPY JOURNALISM! I would like to say that I agreed with, or for that matter, disagreed with what was said, but I can't, because I'm not sure WHAT was said. It's like the people just wrote random bitter comments, but had nothing else to follow up with. I'm willing to go with the fact that Jesse isn't a patriot or whatever....but then he sets up this "America could have learned a bit of humilty" thing.....WITH NO PAY OFF. I mean, he says we "choked," but how? What do you mean? What did we do to "choke"? I don't know, but Jesse sure is pissed off about it!
I guess my point is that I get tired of people spouting off about important things with no intention of clarifying or proving their argument(s). ESPECIALLY when the very thing they complain about is actively being practiced WHILE THEY ARE WRITING! That is, FREEDOM.....freedom to be a patriot, or a non-patriot, or a blowhard, or freedom to contradict yourself in the same paragraph twice, or talk about how the government is run by "balding, overweight, elite-educated white men" (since when hasn't it? I mean, who wrote the constitution?) or whatever. THAT IS WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT THIS COUNTRY. And that, and ONLY that is why we need to be a strong now as ever.
Again, I really do feel bad criticizing fellow Live Journals in this way, but something possessed me to do it.
And yes, I do realize that I can be criticized for the same thing I'm criticizing others for.
God Bless America. We need it. The world needs it.
(Strange note of the day: The Indians MLB team called up center fielder Coco Crisp to replace center fielder Milton Bradley....you can't make this stuff up)
