OK so I was supposed to post about this yesterday but I suddenly got exhausted around 9:30pm (light weight) so I'm doing it now.
So Thursday was the BEST day ever!
It started as usual. I walked to school in some great weather. It wasnt windy or chilly it was just nice and crisp. So I got to school and went to my Chemistry lesson which was suprisingly easy. I have been struggling with Chemistry recently but I did seem to fly through the work in this lesson. So the bell went and I headed off to Maths which was my last lesson of the day. My History teacher was on a field trip so I wasnt gonna hang around school when I had nothing left to do. But when I arrived at Maths the teacher wasnt there either! So I left the school immediately, after one lesson, and headed back home.
Then I spent the next 4 hours on the computer just generally wasting time and having fun. I even had a pizza. Yum.
It watched some Doctor Who as well but had to stop about half way through to go to my Dad's house to be picked up for my driving lesson. So I headed over to my Dads and when I went through the door I picked up the post.
I had a quick shuffle through and noticed a letter for "Andy Friel". This was weird because no one calls me Andy in the "real world" and I thought it was from a Uni. When I realised that Uni's send stuff to my Mum's house I started to think it was someone from Leaky. But only Lysh has my address and I couldnt see why she'd send me a letter when e-mails work fine.
So, completely baffled, I started to open it. The envelope was lined with purple tissue paper on the inside which was ODD but I still pulled out the letter which was folded into three. I glimpsed a signature that I knew I recognised. I didnt look at it. I didnt want to get my hopes up. But I opened up the letter and saw the printed signature at the top (ironic, no?) and the little golden owl and when I unfolded it all I saw HANDWRITING! An ACTUAL signautre! I couldnt believe it! I started to breathe heavily and I was running round the room. I started to read the letter and kept gasping and slaping my mouth with the things that J.K. Rowling was saying to me!
Still clutching the letter i grabbed my phone and started calling people. No one answered! Not one person! I dont know what I would have said. I was a little hysterical and I dont think I'd even read what the letter said properly. I settled for leaving a voicemail for my dad and started to try and calm myself down for my driving lesson, (which I now REALLY didnt want).
But the lesson went suprisingly well. I really WASNT concentrarting though and I'm thankful it was my first 1 hour lesson. I even turned when he didnt want me to and went the completely wrong way LOL.
When I arrived home I grabbed the letter and stuffed it back into the envelope and then started to RUN home clutching the envelope in my hand and grinning like mad. Seriously people must have thought I'd just won a prize or something. But no prize could compare to this. EVER.
For a few minutes, the person I most respect and admire in this world was thinking of me. She had wanted to reply. She'd congratulated me on my exams and said I had "clearly huge" potential. It didnt seem real. It still doesnt seem real. It feels wrong.
I'm glad she read it. I'm so happy she knows what these books have done for me. I have a strange sense of closure now. It feels like I'm now ready for Book 7. Does that sound weird? I dont want it yet because of the whole going-to-Edinburgh thing, but if it was to come, I'd be content with the knowledge that Jo finished the book knowing what she'd done for me. I never knew I REALLY wanted her to know before she finished the books but now she does, it's obvious this was a sub-concious desire.
Oh and as you can guess the rest of the evening featured a crappy scanner problem, and much SQUEEEEing and talking to people about it. :)
Andy
P.S. Yes she knows all about LFC, me working for Leaky, and the Corner Booth! WOOT!
jo letter,
best day ever,
