Hello out there.
Thursday night I hopped on the train and arrived back in Detroit at two in the morning. I like taking the train, despite the two hour delays, etc. I like public transport in general, but especially the train. The first hour or so of the trip is always very busy and loud, and then the food cart opens, so everybody gets in line in the dining car and people talk to each other and sit down at the tables with strangers and have a good time. And then about an hour after that the train gets quiet and everybody takes a nap. And then about an hour after that people wake up one by one and talk a quietly amongst themselves and their neighbors a bit more. Maybe some more napping. Soduko, books, music, maps, etc. I like the train. And then you get off.
So I came in and Nicole picked me up and took me home. She brought me an horchata. I was very grateful for that. We greeted Temp and then I went to bed. Friday morning I went out with my mom, made some purchases at the thrift store, had lunch at Panera, and then came home and cleaned the bathroom, as is my custom. Later that evening I went to the homecoming game at good old LHWL and had a goodly time. I played in the band and Jon Shafer was there and Julia Nuoffer was there and Kathy Mackenzie was there and Dan Haller was there and Andrew Mielke was there and Chris Girolamo was there and Mr. H was there and Mrs. H was there and other friends were there. Afterwards I went for slurpees with Andrew, Chris, Andrew and Julia and we sat on a bench and enjoyed them. I enjoyed that. Then I went home.
This morning I got up early and went to Cass Benton to watch Mim run. I disliked racing in high school, but I liked being on the team. And now I miss that a lot. It was such a beautiful morning. Mim got ready for homecoming and I thought she looked rather nice. I went to the Mackenzie household and watched Ena finish getting Mary ready. She also looked rather nice. And then Ena and I went to Caribou and had a nice long chat and I miss her so much. But she's coming out to see me in October! And then I came home and Nicole and I went to Olive Garden and then played some video games and watched the Vicar of Dibley (?) on PBS and I laughed heartily at the British humor, which is based largely on facial expressions.
Tomorrow I go to Our Redeemer and then I get back on the train and go to Chicago. I don't really want to go back, but such is life. I miss high school and Detroit and all of those things. But we must all get degrees, mustn't we? Degrees, degrees, degrees.
As my friend David once wrote in a note to my friend Jon, whom you also know, "life, I love you and I will soften you with my tears." I don't know what that means, but it sounds nice.
