Title: Smile
Pairings: Mainly Jack/John, but with a bit of Jack/Ianto in there too.
Spoilers: Mainly Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang and Exit Wounds. John's POV.
Summary: John may have left Jack, but he knew he would never forget him. So he makes him a promise. Song-fic to 'Smile' by Lonestar.

Well, part of loving someone - even if that love isn't returned - is remembering the bad stuff, because, well, it was all a part of what you shared together.

Thank you hun!! And yes, I do love John Hart...a lot! However much of an act he plays, that mask he put on, when you get down to it he is a man in love, but that love isn't returned. He has to walk away, leaving the man he loves to have a life with someone else.

Love the words of that song, they seem perfect for the John that says goodbye to Jack with that kiss in Exit Wounds.

Yep...which is why I always find myself wanting to just pick him up and cuddle him (weird, I know, but true) - sure, he's a badass, but underneath that, there's a real heart and soul there. All you've got to do is find it.

I like the way you build and justify sympathy for John. Good interpretation of the canon - and moving, too. I like the way you bring resolution to something I thought was unresolvable, John's feelings for Jack.

I think John did deserve some sympathy in the end - that scene with him and Jack in the autopsy bay in Exit Wounds made me cry - I just wanted to pick him up and cuddle him!

Oh, so do I. As much as I love Janto, there's something about Jack and John that just makes me go all warm inside.

Plus, I still hold out hope for that Jack/Ianto/John threesome!

I *think* I already commented on this somewhere else, but I just came across it again and it hit me again... I love the way you write John, and this resonates so much with my own views of the end of Exit Wounds... Poor John needs a hug afte that!
Lovely ending, last line really hits you when you get there.
