Well, this was a bit uneven. It was lovely to see the series decamping to Paris for Blair and Serena's scenes, and Blair's meet-cute with the handsome prince in front of her favourite painting really was sweet, but of course being Blair she had to go and ruin it by...being Blair. But I didn't think the mood whiplash from her fight with Serena by the fountain to their reconciliation back at the hotel was terribly well-scripted, since she went from "I don't care about you!" to "I only care about you!" and I wasn't entirely convinced by either one, through no fault of Leighton Meester's.
Nate is looking good this season; Chace Crawford's new haircut really suits him. I like that he's been playing at being Chuck Bass in Chuck's absence, but that he's not quite as good at it as Chuck is. I'm very intrigued by Juliet, too - it's nice to see Katie Cassidy on my screen again, and I assume the show wants us to think that she might be Gossip Girl. That's clearly a red herring - for starters, I don't believe Gossip Girl is the kind of creepy weirdo who'd have a big collage of UES memorabilia above her desk, so I think Juliet's agenda is different somehow.
The Georgina/Dan storyline is kind of dumb - I just refuse to believe that Dan would fall for it, however convincing Georgina might be. I mean, they must know by now she is always evil, whatever she professes to the contrary. And to take the word of some quack that Georgina hired to do a paternity test, when you don't even know if it was really your DNA she used, is absolutely insane. Still, I guess I'm intrigued to see exactly what it is she's up to.
And Chuck Bass has tired of being Chuck Bass, it seems. After last season, I don't really blame him. Maybe Henry Prince will get better storylines.
