[log] cut me sammy and you'll understand in my veins hot music ran

While it might come as a shock to some people, Gilly is perfectly capable of getting her shit together to pull something off when she's motivated. This is why she's up at seven, traipsing up and down the stairs with her hair half done and no pants on...singing Disney songs...demanding pancakes ( Read more... )

Sally, by default, is a little bit more controlled, though it's difficult not to be more controlled than her sister. She's not going to lie and say that she isn't excited - because it's Disney and no matter how old you get, Disney is always the best thing on any plane of existence - but she actually remembered jeans this morning and is not forgetting that fact.

"I'm ready," Sally says, pulling out this PINpoint thing because she thinks that's going to be ten times easier than any other means of transportation.

"You have to do me a favor, though. You have to breathe. It's hot in Disney. It's not going to be nearly as fun if you pass out and I have to carry out over my shoulder on all the rides." Sally has the PINpoint out and is ready to cart them off toward round-eared, mouse bliss, but she's looking at her sister like Gilly, it's glitter you put on not speed, though she's kind of laughing and it's hardly not obvious.

"I'm breathing," Gilly protests, but she obediently (sort of) dials her enthusiasm down a few notches for safety. She leans over and threads her fingers with Sally's free hand, grinning. "I'll be good."

"The girls want you to bring them home Mickey Mouse," Gilly says, just before punching in their coordinates, giving her sister's hand a squeeze. "But I'm drawing the line at Minnie because I think she'd be better conversation."

Sally doesn't really give Gilly much time to reply to that but the PINpoint takes them there quick enough - instantly, it seems - and Sally is more or less waiting for something, anything from Gilly by the time they roll up in front of Magical Kingdom like a couple of zaney cat ladies. "Tada!"

Lo and Behold, Disney.

Gilly squeals with inappropriate enthusiasm for someone who is technically an adult, and hangs off Sally's hand, swinging sideways. "I want to go on everything," she says, helpfully.

Sally is a Practical Mom and gets a map before she does anything at all outside of tugging Gilly along with her. Some of the nearby children are shooting dirty, envious looks at them both and then turning said looks on their own parents who keep them in check with firm hands and promises of no Dip 'N Dots.

"Lines are usually pretty long," Sally says, as if to herself. "But I bet we could get into Space Mountain first." Little grin right there.

The colour of Gilly's glitter changes as she grins at one of the little girls watching her skip merrily alongside her sister - clearly that didn't just happen and she wasn't showing off for her audience, leave her be Sally - and she bounces on the balls of her feet. "Which way do we go? You've got the map!"

Sally says nothing about the glitter or the grin because she is too busy trying to pretend she has her nose stuck in this map and that she's trying to plot their schedule for the day in her head. Because that's what she does. But she's not doing that today. "Space Mountain iiiiiisss -" a couple careful turns here and there, a craning of the neck, finally pointing: "- over that way."

She grabs her sister's wrist and pulls her after her, looping their arms and then handing the map over. "We'll rotate. You pick next."

On the way to Tomorrowland, Sally pops into a store and buys two sets of mouse ears. Then she spells them not to fall off on any upside down roller coasters and sometimes move on their own when little girls start staring.

"That wasn't me," Gilly says, laughing, when she realizes what her mouse ears are doing. It's the best thing in the world when it's her and Sally like this, when Sally joins in and nobody's mad at anybody else for anything somebody else did in 1992.

"No, if it'd been you, they would've been on fire," Sally teases, as they make their way to the front of line. No one asks any questions, strangely enough...

... Eventually they're going to have to get giant turkey legs, too, but that can wait until after the ride is over.

Nobody should really be surprised that Gilly loves rollercoasters. Wouldn't you, if you were her? Controlled madness.

(She usually only manages the second part.)

For her part, Sally is kind of a spaz on things that move fast and go into unnecessary turns and stops and give her whiplash. See: that car ride with Jimmy. So she screams a lot and when they get off the ride and look at their picture - because that's what Disney does - she's not surprised that her mouth is open and her hair is insane.

"I'm awake now," she says, wondering if she still has feet.

Gilly, of course, screams like she's having the time of her life and in the picture aptly looks a half-step out of this world. It's a thing. She links arms with Sally again, laughing into her sister's shoulder. "I...want to get my picture taken with Mickey Mouse. And yours! For the girls."

This last part is added piously so Sally doesn't think Gilly's just silly or something like that. (She is.)

(Sally knows Gilly is silly. Living with her this long wouldn't let her think otherwise, just for the record.)

Still, Sally throws her a look, one eyebrow up. "You know that will take at least forty-five minutes," she points out, keeping her eyes peeled for said Mr. Mouse. Character pictures are just one of those things that not even magic can make go faster. Fortunately, just as they're walking into the next section of the park, Mickey Mouse himself isn't hard to spot, since he's surrounded by a throbbing throng of five-year-olds and their sweaty, flushed parents.

Sally moves them in line, her arm still looped with her sister's, and leans over to say, "What do you say to Mickey Mouse?"

"Nothing I'd say to the aunts over margaritas?" Gilly suggests, fluttering inexplicably glittering lashes at her sister.

"I don't know," Sally throws out, moving up in the line, her tone facetious, "they might like that."

"Oh yeah?" Gilly's grin takes on a decidedly mischievous slant. "You think I should liven up their day a little?"
