Fannish5

I kind of love this comm. fannish5 for this last Friday was List five characters you'd want on your side in any kind of trouble. Bonus points for assembling an "Action Team" with complementary skills.

1. Buffy. That's a no-brainer. I loves me some Buff. She's the perfect woman - strong enough to take care of herself, and smart enough to know that she doesn't always have to. She would likely take the lead, because it's what she's best at.

2. Cyclops. A lot of people don't like him because he's kind of an asshole sometimes and, frankly, a bit dull. As Emma put it, "...you're Scott Summers. You like homework and vegetables." That is, for me, a lot of his appeal. He's a different kind of hero - he does it because he has to, not just out of moral obligation, a need for vengeance, or a desire to do good. Scott without Cyclops is just a plain, normal guy. He's a hero because he's got nothing else he can do and he'd get swallowed up if he wasn't. He would be leading alongside Buffy, I think. His anal-retentive, self-imposed control would nicely balance out the occasional moments of 'A Slayer is alone' that she gets into.

3. Manhunter. The Kate Spencer one. She's clever and she knows it, she's comfortable with herself and she's not afraid to point out when people are being melodramatic. She's a savvy lawyer, a divorced single mother, and a superhero who's not afraid to break the biggest rule when she feels it's necessary. She's the big gun.

4. Dani Moonstar. I like her because she keeps her cool, and she's inventive enough to know when to use a scalpel and when to use a sledgehammer. Dani, powers or not, is also a capable fighter, a loyal friend, and a damn good teacher, whatever she may think. She'll take orders, but she won't do something that goes against her personal ethics, and she's a creative thinker. She's a good guy, through and through.

5. Claire Bennet. I love the way she's so natural and easy about her powers. She treats it like a part of her, like she'd treat her hair or her skin, rather than as a blessing or as a burden. Plus, healer, so always good to have on your side.
