i managed to spill coffee on my only truly new shirt. a shirt for myself, i mean. i have purchased others recently, too, but they are also for work and i don't really think calling them new shirts and celebrating their newness benefits me any, as they're bound only to become dirty. they'll still look nice--nice enough. but they're not really mine. they're property of anyone who looks on me wearing the shirt, it becomes a part of their memory, and it is theirs. so, i'm waiting on the dryer.
i broke my window this morning. it was really spectacular and weird. it's definitely not anything i'd want to repeat again. i was only trying to open the damn thing. honestly.
if i had a working camera, i would have liked to have posted a picture. err, working camera cord so that i could upload any photos i might take on my very much functional kodak.
the window was frosty, and this was because of the vast difference in temperature: the cold night air of a north florida nature preserve against the automated climate set by boys from south florida. something like forty degrees worth of disparity. i was only entering my third hour of sleep at six thirty in the morning, but i decided that, dressed as i was, and bundled so warmly as i was, cool air might be nice. without any leverage lying down, i passed the opportunity to lift the vertically tracked pane from its base ledge, opting instead for the top brace, located in the middle of the window when the sliding pane is at rest. i must have exerted more pressure into the pane than i was up on the brace, as the glass cracked uniformly and strangely semi-circle, resembling a bowl's profile. that parabolic piece fell forward, away from the glass, caught from falling by the screen. it is still trapped safely in-between.
i told the office about the oddity at eleven-fifteen, thinking that this was a pretty big deal and that perhaps i ought to have a new window. but i was on a crunch, and had to go to krishna lunch. so after i told the property manager (!) about my window, i left for campus. on bike, as always. (that is usually the best part of my day--or one of them, leastways.) i didn't get back from lunch, hanging out with my friend will, class, and, at last, counselling, until five. my window is still wide open, for all intents and purposes. i can only be glad that it came at the time of the year that it did, as the weather could not be more solipsistic: truly a delight. instance, i had coffee twice at home; twice out. great weather does this. and all you want is some shade and a couple of hours.
that new shirt is american apparel. my credit card bill came today. it was pretty stout. had charges from so. florida--and my memories came back of the florid weekend with my friends: the water, the coffee, the people, the places, the ocean, our conversations and evenings--had charges from the gap; charges from a haircut that already looks good-but-not-great; charges from charges not paid. whatever. i hate how my ebill account is about as useful as a bladeless lawn mower. it will allow me to schedule payments that are never rendered or processed or exchanged. silliness.
they waived my fee, though. still, this gesture doesn't make them number one in customer service or satisfaction in my book.
rearranging my room is cool. i like little amounts of change. i've been having a good couple of weeks.
a developmental couple of weeks.
my laundry is ready to fold. cheers.
