I haven't posted in a while so I figure I should probably say something about something. The problem is that I have really nothing of interest to say. Oh well, I'll go into the week a little and maybe you'll enjoy that.

On Monday night I went up to SF and saw Lady Sovereign perform. It was decent, with the exception of the opening acts. The DJ that started things played strictly techno/electronic/shit that, if nothing else, made sure I realized how absolutely I hate that kind of music. Honestly, for the first hour I was there I thought I had accidentally wondered into an Abercrombie & Fitch. Then the most bizarre act I've ever seen not involving midgets, a guy sets up his laptop on stage, plays shitty beats from it, and sings along. Yeah, I'm not kidding.

This had all the excitement of watching someone sing along with their iTunes to music you don't like. He "played" for waaaaay too long, and no one really wanted to hear him after about 2 "songs" but I suppose I should give him credit for his ability to completely ignore his own suckiness.

Then Lady Sov came out and did her thing.

She was pretty good all in all, but the most interesting aspect was came from a side story I didn't know about until the show was over. Apparently, there is a guy in the Bay Area who raised $10,000 to go on a date with Lady Sov. So they did and the guy thought everything went well, as guys normally do, but miss s.o.v. decided she was going to diss the guy in an interview. I mean, this doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me, guys think a date goes well and girls talk shit about the guy all the time. Of course, the matter is far from over. The guy has a friend who's a freestyle rapper and he challenged Lady Sov to a battle to stand up for his friend's honor. Unfortunately, the rapper's moniker is Jelly Donut and yes, he does dress up in a jelly donut costume. So of course she's not going to battle him, probably because she doesn't have to but also because he's a fucking jelly donut.

Donut boy was out back after the show, waiting by the bands bus to reissue his challenge. That's when I found out about this whole story and if you want to know more, click here: http://overstated.net/2007/01/09/lady-not-so-sovereign-in-sf

Anyway, I'm back to football. later gator.
