Stranger things have happened...haven't they?

Ginny nearly feel off of the library chair in shock. The Astronomy book she'd been holding fell to the floor with a dull 'thud' as she stared wide-eyed at the most unlikely duo who had taken it upon themselves to join her. "What the-"

"Hush, Weasely," Goyle said grumpily, glaring at her a bit. "Do you want everyone to know we're associating?"

"Val," Tracey Davis hissed reproachfully. "Behave."

Ginny blinked in shock as Goyle's glare softened and he sat back looking disgruntled but unwilling to brass off the petite brunette Slytherin. "Umm, what is this about and who the ruddy hell is Val?"

"That'd be me," Goyle offered, his low tone was nearly dripping with amusement, and to her shock a thick Irish brogue. "Only Maeve is allowed to call me that though."

"Maeve?" Ginny echoed dully, turning her attention back to the witch across the table, hoping for some sort of explanation for this decidedly odd situation. "Davis?"

The witch in question laughed lightly. "Tracey is fine, Weasley. We're here to help as odd as we find it."

"Help?" Ginny inquired, still wondering when she'd drifted off to sleep and fallen into the oddest dream ever. "With what?"

"I thought you were smarter than that," Goyle said with a sigh. He leaned forward, tucking his shoulder- length hair behind his ear and revealing a very different Gregory Goyle than Ginny remembered. "I gave Draco that jumper last Yule, you know, the one you're wearing."

Ginny's mouth fell open in shock. Apparently Goyle had not only become more attractive, but smarter as well. "You're not going to repeat that...right?"

Tracey scoffed. "Of course we aren't. We're here to help you, not create mass mayhem by telling your idiot brother."

Not knowing what to say, Ginny sat back and crossed her arms over her chest. It was true that she and Draco had been secretly dating for over a year but she was still confused as to what these two thought they could do to help since the illustrious trio had decided last week that she and Harry were 'ever so perfect together'. They'd been watching her closely and only a summons from Dumbledore gave her the smallest measure of privacy. She was beyond annoyed and willing to listen to any plans.

"You've been assigned to tutor Val in Astronomy," Tracey said, breaking the silence with her soft, lilting voice. "I'm to supervise. Professor Snape's orders."

"Vinnie and Blaise will be at hand to distract the three morons should it be necessary," Goyle added, a wicked smile gracing his face. "I, for one, hope it is."

Ginny held up a hand to stop them. "Wait. Snape concocted this mad plan?"

Goyle snickered. "No, it was a group effort due to Draco's penchant for hexing anyone and everyone this past week. Snape went along since it is sure to come to the Morons attention sooner or later. He really loathes Potter."

Tracey leaned forward. "Trust us. We've only Draco's mental health in mind. Being away from you, as he's apparently arse over broomstick for you, is the cause of this most recent bout of nastiness. Are you going to let us help or just sit back while you get married off to that bastard Potter?"

Ginny blanched. "Oh hell no! I'll take the help."

Goyle chuckled. "Well, well, maybe you are as smart as we thought after all."

Tracey smacked him, albeit lightly, upside the head as she stood. "Eight tonight, the Potions classroom. Don't be late."

Ginny watched the duo cross the library, Goyle's shoulders slumping and his chin dropping as they went - reminding her of the old Goyle. "Well, maybe Draco was right," she muttered, turning back to her essay. "Stranger things have happened... haven't they?"
