Have seen this rumor floating around. Don't know if it's true or not. I've *also* heard the rumor about the movie with DT and BP. So...who knows. Heh heh. But as far as DT leaving, first I heard that he wanted to exit after S4, which...okay. 3 seasons - still short but at least it's one more than Billie did. But I could see RTD talking him into doing a surprise exit so they can do another regeneration a wee bit earlier.
That whole "not being typecast" thing? Sorry. That excuse doesn't work any more. 3rd person that's tried it. Plus it *really* sounds like they're recycling CE's words rather than hearing it from DT.
My own personal opinion on this? I think the tabloids had a field day over BP leaving and now they want to stir something up again. Never have seen anything like it - tabloids being so obsessed with a TV show.
If he does exit, say in S3, I honestly do not know how they can expect to hold an audience if its main actors keep leaving. Sure, pre-existing DW fans are used to this kind of thing. Newer fans, even though they're told it's the norm for DW, not so much. At least, *I* wind up with a "why should I even bother watching?" attitude.
