Wow. I guess I should update this thing more often, but interesting things just don't really happen all that often, at least not in my part of the world. I've learned some important lessons though!
1. Calculus sucks. This is a given. However, I'm now sure that hell has a special corner reserved where students are forced to take Calculus BC midterms.
2. Colorado was, at one point, next door to Mexico. Ninety percent of their resteraunts are either Mexican food or steak houses... this is not a bad thing, but still.
3. Skiing is meant to be done on snow, not on grass, mud, or small bodies of water. Granted, sometimes snow is not available - this is usually a sign that you should stop skiing, something which I failed to observe this spring break.
4. You can only turn so fast on a snowmobile before it starts to flip. (Darn you, inertia!)
5. There is such a thing as a good English reading assignment. East of Eden is pretty solid stuff.
6. Last, and most important... NINE more weeks until I'm done with highschool! :D
To fill in some background info, I've spent most of my time in school... surprise, surprise. That doesn't make for many new exciting things, except perhaps that I've taken up fencing in what little spare time I have, which is great fun. Life as usual, however, took up most of my time until spring break.
This last week of break, however, has been great fun - the family went up to Steamboat Springs for some skiing, which was both good and bad. When one goes all the way to Colorado, they expect to find snow, which I suppose we did. However, 48 degree weather does not make for good snow conditions, nor does it keep snow on the ground, instead of melting it away into oblivion and then re-freezing to form miserable little ice patches to injure unexpectant skiiers. Alas.
Nonetheless, the trip was quite enjoyable... the afternoon downtime when it was just too darn hot to ski was filled with horseback riding at a local ranch, snowmobiling up at the top of a nearby peak (~11,000 feet, so the snow was decent) and tubing on one of the hills of the ski resort. That, and a great deal of reading of books... I finished East of Eden once, read a 600 page book and then another 1000-pager, then back to East of Eden. That's how much free time I had... I don't do well having nothing to do in free time. :P
And now, here I am, home once again. I suppose I'll be marathoning on EQ and replaying FFX in hopes of cramming in all of my final hours of enjoyment before the last nine weeks of studying and such. Here's to gaming!
