Food Stuff

So, I posted a question to attachedparents asking for ideas and suggestions on finger foods for my little one. I've gotten a huge response and got a ton of ideas to try. Some were kinda wacky like the ideas on a web-site that someone directed me to and Gerber finger foods that kinda scare me. But, most of them were pretty nifty. I'm going to have to print up a list to help me keep track of them all. Yea!!! :)

I've also realized once again that I am an idealist when it comes to raising my child. I am very picky about the sorts of foods that I want to give to her, just as I have been very picky about making sure that she never receive a drop of formula. Yea, me! :) I am careful about the sorts of foods that I put into my own body, so why would I do anything different when it comes to my child? I think that my dad did us all a wonderful favor by limiting the amount of junk food that we were allowed to have. My mom was a bit of a pushover when it came to that sort-of thing, while my dad was the stricter one. He insisted that we didn't eat sugary cereals, didn't get too much candy and ate a home-cooked meal nearly every night. It was a good way to grow up and I think that it instilled a bunch of good eating habits in me and my siblings. Although my brother does need to learn to actually cook for himself! ;-)

Anyhow, the little one is up from her nap now and happy as can be. She keeps poking her head over at me smiling. :) I need to go play with her and get some food to eat.....

Sidenote: I finished off the pasta salad today that I had made over the weekend. I was in the middle of making a stir-fry when she woke up mid-nap and needed more cuddles and nursing. I also think that I caught up on my eating over the weekend and feel much better now. We are also trying to give her solids 1-3 times a day now, depending on our time and her interest. It's working out pretty well. She really digs it and it makes me feel a little less pressured to provide nearly 100% of her daily caloric intake. I definitely don't want to give up nursing her anytime soon. But, a bit of a break is a nice thing indeed. :)
