I need some help here...
The other day I had a discussion about Order of the Phoenix with my fellow HP lover at school; we shared our thoughts on some incidents in the book and she asked some questions that I for a moment can't think of any proper or reasonable answers.
So here it goes --
1. Why did Dumbledore and the entire Order of Phoenix put so much effort into protecting the prophecy, since Voldemort already wanted to kill Harry? Her standpoint is, concerning the content of the prophecy, Voldemort's attempt to kill Harry would only have been stronger; then what difference does it make if he knew about it or not?
2. Since the prophecy could only be taken by either Voldemort or Harry, why bother to protect it at all? All they have to do was to keep Harry from getting near and forced or made, if possible, Voldemort to go the Ministry of Magic himself, which would of course arouse ministry's caution and, above all, prevent Mr. Weasley's injury.
(This alternative sounds a bit absurd to me, though I can't really figure out what's odd and can't offer any good explanation.)
3. As Harry needs explanation of all things more than anyone else in the book, we already knew that Dumledore had his reasons for not telling Harry the whole story. Yet this is definitely not a perfect excuse for keeping him completely in the dark. Exclude the prophecy alone, why couldn't any other members in the Order (e.g. Mcgonagall, Lupin..,etc) tell Harry things he should have known. In this case, things like why Dumbledore never looked Harry directly in the eye or why Harry needed to learn Occlumacy (sp?) in the first place, and most important of all, that Harry's vision in his dreams might not necessarily be true, so on and so forth.
Are there any good reasons for these questions/theories??
