Week 25/05/15 to 31/05/15 (2015 Week 15)

A friend of mine has been writing weekly blog posts and I've enjoyed them, as well as always wanting to try to actually write some sort of a diary (I nearly wrote a dairy, which isn't what I meant no matter how much I like to drink milk), so here goes:

Work: Some important meetings towards the end of the week leading into a few important things including testing the new tools for adding Python programs to the site, and using this to work out a way to allow students to message into tutorials without the privacy issues we've been having.

Play: Got to play Black Fleet at the start of the week. It seemed fun, but I'm not sure it will go on my favourites list compared to a lot of worker placement games. Also I got to play some of a game of the Firefly board game on Tuesday, but it was clear we were going to get nowhere near finishing it so we stopped. I'd really like to play a full game through, although again I'm not sure it's something I'll end up playing regularly, both because of the time and how elements of it seemed a little too random. In fact, it reminded me a little of Eldritch Horror in how it played. On Sunday J and I won two games of Pandemic :)

Away: Took J camping for the first time since her D of E. We caught a bus to Lower Bradfield and sadly managed to leave our lunch on it. Whoops. Luckily we had brought lots of food so we were fine. We walked along Stanage Edge to the North Lees campsite and it was a really lovely walk - the weather was a great temperature for walking, it was dry and there wasn't really any wind. At the campsite the new tent went up quickly, and having brought along a pre-prepared (can't think of a better way of saying that) pasta sauce dinner was easily cooked. Sadly making chaa tea failed a little when it boiled over the side of the new jetboil. Oops. The forecast rain arrived overnight but we were fine in the tent, and it had dropped to drizzle by the time we had to get up on Sunday. We walked the rest of Stanage Edge on Sunday, and caught the bus back from the Fox House pub. This was also nice, but Saturday's walk was so good it seemed mundane by comparison. Also the ridge was windier, which didn't help. J seemed OK with carrying stuff all the way around, but then she did only have a 40L rucksac so I had to carry the tent and both roll mats :p However, it looks like we'll be doing this again and maybe even visiting the same campsite.
