Nipplegate continues
Jackson's nipple showing has now lead to hearings in a special house panel, House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Senate Commerce Committee. There are bills in the House and Senate to increase indecency fines from $27,500 to $275,000. Politicians are tripping over themselves to declare how indecent the boob was. [AP article]
And yet, Congress voted to allow Viacom (the parent of MTV and CBS) to own more local television stations. Because showing a tit is bad but quenching diversity of opinions in a democracy, well, that's not as important.
And somewhere (well, everywhere) in the rest of the developed world, people are laughing at us once again for our misplaced priorities.
And somewhere else, people are still dying from bombs proudly made in the USA.
