I spent five hours Friday night at Barnes and Nobles. I took the girls to get their coveted copies of the new Harry Potter book. Let me tell you, there is nothing in this world like spending five hours in a book store packed with small children dressed up like characters from this book. Also, I don't know what kind of crack the parents were giving their kids, but good lord, they were all running around more and more wound up as it got later. Thank God there's a starbucks in that store, it was my saving grace. Well, that and the fact that I made John come along as well. We found ourselves a quiet little corner and settled in there, talking and reading most of the night. There was a few moments there when a small child dressed in what appeared to be one of his parents bathrobes came and felt the need to keep poking me with a wand he had fashioned out of a drinking straw, mumbling some nonsense. Yeah, it was an intereting night, to say the very least. At least now the girls have spent the majority of yesterday and today quietly reading. If anything good has come from Harry Potter, it's a couple days of peace and quiet.
