So I spent a good deal of time sitting in front of the TV this long weekend, with VH1 on. Mainly because it was the only channel that was actually playing music videos, and as a bonus it was all 80's stuff.
No I'm not a huge 80's music nerd, but it is fun to look back at songs I used to love and see how ridiculous the people looked singing them.
But really I noticed something that really sort of bothered me about changes in music over the last 20 years(now almost 30). There were a few videos by multiple artists that all had to do with some huge world cause. Aids, Africa, ending apartheid, and such.
You would see singers from all types together for this cause.
You just don't see that kind of effort and selflessness in the industry these days it seems.
It just made me sad, that we have people from that time(Bono and the likes) still crusading for world causes, and hardly anyone of the newer generation of artists have taken their position to help the world as a whole. And no campaigning for shitty politicians(they all suck) is not helping the world.
