Soreness Update - history, status and prognostication

Oct 07, 2005 10:52

My throat started getting sore last night.

It was even sorer at 3am, when I got up to pop to the toilet.

It was still pretty sore when I phoned into work at 9am.

It's sore now.

The soreness will hopefully vanish by tomorrow.

That is all.

Sounds a bit like what I had late last week. (And what other people around me have had.) If so, worry not (too much): it's a one-day thing.

If it's what I'm recovering from, you're fucked.

Starts with a sore throat. Sore throat begins to go away. Then nose starts running. "Aha! A cold!" Yes, but then the racking coughs start. I'm now on the mend after 72 hours, but my ribs feel as if I've been beaten with baseball bats.

NB: some people never seem to progress to the runny-nose stage, much less the beaten-with-baseball-bats stage. But I suspect it's the same seasonal change bug that's doing the rounds.

Sounds possible.

I suspect, by the way that you've reacted to it, that you've got 'holiday flu', whereby when you relax, all the bacteria that you'd been holding off by sheer willpower have a big party throughout your entire body.

I'm hoping that I haven't got that :->

If it's what I've got it's NOT a one day thing.

Sounds like it's building to what I had a couple of weeks ago. Get some strepsils quickly.

garlic pills! they seem to work wonders for me sometimes. yesterday i was getting crud in my throat, and my nose started getting congested & runny... but today, 14 pills later, i feel great, physically, and even mentally rather good. I already felt good this morning actually.
