Five years ago we got the kitchen refitted, and it was awesome to go from not having a dishwasher to...having a dishwasher. The only thing left to do was the tiling, and we were a bit short of cash, so we left that until we had some more savings

Surely you'd think twice about burning it down when it is looking as nice as this!
Also kudos for pointing out workpeople you're pleased with -- it's sometimes hard to find someone who is good and pleasant to work with, and personal recommendations from someone you know go a long way.
