There doesn't seem to be any reliable information, at least yet, on the "sleeping while black" story. The car was "in the street." Does that mean it was parked by the curb, or sitting out in the middle? The couple were asleep (or "unconscious", which could mean passed out - but how could anyone tell which?) when the cops arrived, but there's no indication they remained so for the whole of the "45-minute standoff." How do you hold a standoff with an unconscious person, anyway? The cops say the woman waved a gun around. Her relatives say she never owned a gun. Cops have a history of mistaking cell phones for guns. The cops say they opened fire because they felt threatened when the couple wouldn't exit the car. Perhaps the couple were no longer asleep by then, but cops are always defending shooting by saying how threatened they felt by completely non-threatening actions like this. Do cops have any idea what easily terrified little pussies they appear when they say things like that? And it doesn't make any sense anyway. Would the cops feel any less threatened if they had exited the car?
