There is no point arguing about Moffat’s Who anymore.

So we’re going to settle this the Chicago way.

I do hope you're not going to bring a sonic screwdriver to a tissue compression eliminator fight.

I did have to go and look up what The Master's weapon was called.

Clearly I am not a True Fan.

But are you a New Paradigm Fan?

New Paradigm?

New Paradigm Daleks are some brightly coloured Daleks who appeared in an early Moffat era Who but who have yet to feature in any significant way since.

One of the many plot twists and tangles La Moff appears to have forgotten about.

I’m enjoying this season more than previous ones.

I’m really enjoying watching it with the Captain. Partly because it’s nice watching something I love with him and partly because his utter misunderstanding of what is going on is very funny. I give you him explaining Garlicks to MLW and finding episode four really funny. I mean I missed half of what was going on because of him laughing.

Although looking at episode 4 I fear that Moffat et al might be about to get in to another tangle of tricksy time stuff with Danny Pink and Orson Pink and so on layered around Missy. Less is more.

. And that it largely made "sense". And would have probably been quite a good plot if it had been spread over several episodes, rather than crammed into one big mass of awful rubbishness.

Yes, this is exactly what I felt about it. It tied up all the loose ends in a relatively compelling way but done in a tearing hurry. (I guess he thought he had another season to tidy it all up).

I wonder about that. Although, if that was the case then he should have done more to get _that_ plot in to the last season, rather than it all being about Clara being Mary Poppins.

Wonder what the timeline was for writing plots/filming and knowing that Matt Smith wasn't going to carry on.

Plus, of course, the 50th (only the episode before) couldn't be too much a part of that as it had to be sufficiently stand alone to make sense to the temporarily increased audience.

That is, was it already too late by the time he found out?

Could well be.

Shame, in that case, to get through four years of a five-year arc and then have to rush in the last season.

IS the official name for this Babylon five syndrome?

I think that Moffat's long-haul stories (Time of the Doctor, The Power of Three, that bit before Let's Kill Hitler) are interesting, but would play out better in book or audio format than in single episodes of the series ( ... )

It's entirely plausible. I didn't know these details.

I can't think of another explanation except for perhaps that he lost confidence in the idea so pushed it out of the way quickly.
