Bristol's certainly thriving, from what I hear from friends in the city - and I believe Glasgow's doing pretty well too.

I travel to or through Bristol a lot and have been doing so for about ten years.

I’d certainly agree that it has improved significantly in that time, although my relationship with the city is superficial.

Little to no culture at all beyond government sponsored museums, hyper inflation at bars and clubs, a very right wing government that favors finance types and your city becoming a Disney version of what it once was.

If you want a good sense look up pictures of Bowery section around CBGBs circa 1980 and that same area today.
