Which is why I think the fuss is hilarious. People getting themselves tied up in knots because *gasp* someone wants to try a different spin on a novel they love.

Also, it already is a romance. It just happens to also be about the struggle to live, think and rebel within a dystopian state. It's hardly as if they're adding a new character and romantic plot that wasn't there already. Maybe people just don't like K-Stew and her grumpy face.

Oh yeah, sorry - meant so say that no, still not got around to reading it. But I did see the stage play, so I know that the relationship is a big part of it.

1984...is quite romantic though. I really liked the Winston/Julia love story when I was 15.

I remember an old humourous book describing a musical version with an upbeat ending, from which I got one of my catchphrases: "bring on the dancing rats"
