But I like carbs!

If I eat a meal that doesn't have a starchy component -- pasta / rice / potatoes etc -- I don't feel properly full.

Nobody is stopping you eating carbs.

They're just saying that a high-carb diet is not a good way to lose weight.

Yeah but I don't want non-carb meals to become a thing. I won't be able to eat out any more!

Hah! It's not like eating out is healthy in any sense of the word. Otherwise restaurants wouldn't sell desserts.

True. Whenever we cook something with some kind of a sauce, I always am slightly shocked at how much cream or oil goes into it, and then I think about how most things I eat in restaurants will have that much too.

Or a ton of salt. We had Italian the other week and felt so thirsty for hours afterwards!

I suspect things in restaurants are even worse when it comes to cream, oil, salt, etc. Because those are the things that taste awesome :->

Take up a strenuous form of exercise then revel as carbs become more useful to your body, without any associated ill effects!

But you could eat more! Potatoes by the bushel! Bread by the loaf!

To be honest, this was the most incisive part of the article for me:

"The political forces are just too strong in the U.S. right now to allow any dietary advice that would cut into corporate profits and their production of cheap food to dominate world food supplies."

I thought the US needed us to all eat corn syrup.

I drink a pint a day in solidarity with our US cousins.
