Interesting! I do get a pain in my head, but it only lasts a few seconds. I think it lasts longer for some people.

I get it. My daughter gets it.

Usually it’s just a fleeting sensation, lasting seconds or perhaps a minute. Very occasionally I get it for a bit longer. It’s the kind of thing that feels like it might trigger a migraine - so if I feel like I might be prone to a migraine I avoid cold drinks and ices.

I think it might have to do with the manner in which you consume it. I get them more intensely when drinking a Slurpee which in retrospect makes sense because you're sucking it up through a straw right at your palate. I bet that if you're a slower ice cream eater, you'll have more palate warm up time between bites.
