I'm impressed with the dedication of the conservative MPs who camp out in front of the office to be first in the queue for Private Members Bills. Why can't liberals or socialists show that sort of fire?

That's hardly proven. It seems pretty clear from the article that this was one particular group of MPs laying out their wish list. Some of these items a purely Conservative government might have gone for, but I think that privatising the BBC (for instance) is not something they'd have tried to pull off.

Key point to note: Peter Bone is named. I've seen him on television, and he's obviously the kind of right-winger who delights in winding up everyone, especially moderate Tories. I suspect Margaret Thatcher Day is actually a joke, in some senses.

True. I think the Conservatives would _more_ that way, but it's clearly one wing of the party, not the whole thing.
