Brilliant speech.

Wish I hadn't seen some of the youtube comments though.

What is with the average intelligence of youtube commentators.

I'm not that impressed by the insanely long mathematical proofs. It's not as if they are proofs of anything interesting: the statements being proved would have to be long as well, I think ( ... )

I thought the article about insanely long proofs was fascinating until he got to what he considered the meat of the matter -- the abstract discussion of proofs. (I never liked doing proofs in school -- I'm an engineer, not a mathematician!)

Has sinfest become sane again?

I used to read it all the time and then a while back it got onto some weird crusade where every strip for weeks at a time didn't have any jokes and was simply repeating "pornography is evil" over and over again.

He's still anti-porn, and there are still some strips where he seems to have run out of time before the deadline, and went with "idea" instead of "joke". But from time to time, he produces something awesome. You might still not find it worth your while, I guess.

The thing is I don't care if someone is anti-porn or anti any other thing I like. I only care if they were at one time funny and insightful and then suddenly got stuck on something. Even if it was an idea I liked I'd get tired of the same theme over and over again, you know?

The thing is that his jokes used to be awesome and I only stopped reading when there seemed to be no joke anymore.

Yeah, I get it. His hit rate's gone down quite a long way. I'll wait around for the good ones, but I'm very tolerant of that if the good ones really are good. But then I read webcomics at work!

Hack #100: print that page to a PDF and save it on your computer so you have it where you can find it again (even if the tumblr goes away).
