The idea that early christian history was rewritten to downplay the role of women will be not at all surprising to any of the 100 million people who've read The da Vinci Code...

My favourite is Children of Destiny by Elizabeth Chadwick - not only does she have Mary Magdalen & Jesus reproducing but their female descendants are all Priestesses of the Goddess!

I wonder how she did her research - or if the angels spoke to her directly.

I maybe should have mentionned that it's a historical romance novel and she at no point makes out that it's based on fact. It does involve them hiding a copy of Mary's gospel with the Cathars and that being why they are persecuted though, which I gather is an existing conspiracy theory.
