COGNITION. Just dropping in for a quick note: I've been writing some articles for EYP (Electronic Yellow Pages) and a few have gone up already. Here's one of them:
Sketching for a Healthy Mind. Writing essay-type articles are really difficult for me because I tend to second-guess myself, so I tend to back things up with a heavy amount of research and information...
Sketching is an activity that involves setting down one’s thoughts, in the form of lines and shapes, on paper. This includes freehand drawing with pen or pencil, doodles and scribbles, color studies using paints or pastels, and even short notes and descriptions using only words. A sketch is basically a rough outline of a concept on paper, usually done very quickly, in order to record ideas and impressions.
Since the dawn of history, sketching has been one of mankind’s most powerful communicative abilities. It’s a tradition that spans cultures and centuries: from early bison cave paintings to Leonardo da Vinci’s intricate anatomical studies, to the colorful crayon pictures we all drew as children. As we grow older, we may leave behind this act of sketching to focus on other activities, or we might find ourselves becoming more and more dependent on it to facilitate work in our respective occupations.
Whatever the situation, it’s clear that sketching is an activity that is not only enjoyable, but vital to our development as human beings. What you may not know, however, is that sketching is an activity that has great benefits for your mental well-being.
