Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

I went to see PotC 2 last night. It was in City Screen 1, and was being shown in digital. It amazes me how much been digital projection looks compared to traditional 35mm. The pictures were bright, vibrant and pin sharp without a single glitch or blemish. If only the same could be said about the film.

I know the film is being shot back to back with the third but they could at least make it stand up as film in it's own right. The entire story is just an extended set-up for the third film.

What's up with the Sparrow/Swann love interest? The compass pointing at each other is just nonsense and seemed entirely pointless in the context of the film. Perhaps it's just a set-up for the third film, but I hope not.

Overall it's not a patch on the first one, and is huge disappointment. If Keira Knightly had been wearing a corset instead of pretending to be a boy (how did she get away with that?) it might have been able to keep my interest.

film, review, arrrrrrrr
