So hey how is it going? It has been a long time since I updated this thing. Six weeks or so I believe. So long in fact that people decided to remove me from their friends list. Bye Joan.
Anyway I have been very busy for the last two months or so. Really even since I moved into my new apartment. So I moved in here right near the beginning of August. I spent the first two weeks without internet and cable. There is a satellite dish hooked to the building and available to every apartment. Thus I was looking at getting that for my apartment. I even called a couple times, but they never got back to me. So screw 'em. I got digital cable instead, and that has been more than fine.
Once things got settled in, though it was time for school to start. Since then I would say I have been busier than I ever have been before. But it is a great type of busy. Despite teaching two groups of great kids Math, Science and Moral Ed. I am also the offensive coordinator for the senior boys football team.
School as mentioned is going great, I am loving every minute of it. It is still at the point that I love going to work in the morning. I know it sounds cheesy but it is true. I am also hearing from all sorts of various places, other teachers, parents etc that all of the kids really seem to like me. Which is cool. We have finished a unit on percents and are now working on proportions. In science we are doing physical and chemical changes. We've done 4 labs so far and I hope to continue to do one every three or four classes or so. Moral Ed is fun. the first unit is Media, so I am having the kids create their own utopia's. This goes along with the Matrix, in particular where the machines tried to create the perfect world for the humans and then it failed. So we discussed that concept for a bit and went into the project. I am looking forward to marking those next week. Got the idea from a friend here on LJ. Thanks Robyn ( I think I spelt that right).
In football, as mentioned I am the offensive coordinator for the senior team. We haven't won any games this year, but we expected to have a hard year this year. It is our first year playing real teams, not just pampered candy ass private school kids. Also while most (say 95%) of our team is in grade 9 or 10, the majority of teams we are playing; their starters at least, are all in grade 11. Oh well since we are only losing four guys for next fall, it bodes very well, very very well. We are traveling up to La Tuque tomorrow, which will be along trek. We are leaving at 9 in the morning and getting back about midnight. It is going to be fun, we have some characters on the team for sure.
what else, oh yeah, I got a cat. A grey tabby I named Katie. I'll post pics of her next time. She is about 9 weeks old or so now. A climber, she climbs everything. I have pics of her climbing and then hanging on the screen door. She's a doll.
That pretty much updates my life, school and football, and I'm loving it.
