I am not catholic and have been continually confused about catholic belief on this topic. Could you please explain the theological argument that supports this stance that "life" begins at conception?

I'm not trying to be a dick, but I would like to know the roots of this issue.

Thank you for your attempt, but you didn't answer the question. I didn't ask from a scientific point of view. I asked for the THEOLOGICAL grounds for the statement "life begins at conception" and "fetuses have souls".

If there aren't any, then this really isn't a religious matter.

Also, I would like to point out that the possession of souls in children has been a point of debate even before we understood the biology behind pregnancy and conception.

I'm not Catholic either, but I am a Christian, and I believe that God created every single one of us individually. That means, to me, that that creation includes babies from the moment of conception. Possibly even before conception (who am I to limit God?)

Thank you.
I believe that there is much more to this issue, but I appreciate you being able to support your argument. In my estimation, that makes you better than 85% of catholics worldwide.
