From my other journal - This past weekend at Gleann Abhann KA&S, my laurel Maitresse
Alysia Gabrielle de Fougeres was invited to join the Pelican circle! She is going to have her elevation ceremony the weekend of the 29th at the WOW camp just north of Hattiesburg, MS.

So now I'm looking at the event (http://kingdomofgleannabhann.org/ - Calendar of Events - Harvest Home). It's a nautical themed event with lots of fighting and games, an A&S competition, and a masked ball. I don't fight any more because of my wrists, but I can still help on the field as a herald or list mistress/runner. Also attending a ball where I don't have to teach will be something of a novelty. I'll still take my dance books just in case, but I hope I have the chance to just dance and dance and dance and flirt and dance and enjoy myself.

Of course the A&S competition has me the most intrigued. I took my apprentice belt after I had already moved to the east side of Meridies (but before Gleann Abhann became its own kingdom). I haven't been back in many years. I would love to enter; I just don't know what to enter. I can enter my Anglo-Saxon poem into creative writing. The documentation for the poetry is pretty good; it was the documentation for the performance style I needed to beef up. I would love to enter something in performing arts. Anyone have any ideas? Since I won't have a dance partner (that I know of), entering European dance is out. I need to go through all my music and see if I have anything that might be appropriate. Of course, they might not have a Performing Arts section to the competition. A lot of smaller groups don't. However, having something prepared to perform during feast would probably also be a good idea.
