Inmortalized by the master's hand

"What is it, Michael? Scared to leave me behind? You know I'll go on even if you go."
"That's not it."
"I don't even think you've got the guts to throw yourself. How could you?"
"I am the future now. You are the past. You are dead."
"Oh, no, you're very wrong. I'm but the total opposite of dead. I am life and when you're done escaping me, it is you who'll be dead. So, what's stopping you, Michael?"
"You are gone. This is all gone. I've lived in a time where this is the past and you no longer exist."
"Is that so? A time without life? You'll have to excuse me while I laugh because I find that hard to believe."
"It is unthinkable until you, well, I can't say until you live it. Until you experience it, yea, until then you can understand and you can see how all of this supposedly wonderful life is but a gust of wind in the desert which is the Universe."
"Nonsense! There cannot be life without me. I breathe animation into all beings."
"There are other beings, other forms of life. Some only need their own will in order to exist. I was there at a time, I know it. But I somehow came to this time, when you rule aimlessly, unknowing of greater places, unaware of your utter insignificance."
"All right, say it is true. Why haven't you killed yourself and gone to your greater place? I think you're just trying to get something out of me."
"Nothing you can give compares even to the smallest of pleasures of where I come from. My dilemma lies in the oceans. I knew not of oceans until I arrived here. They sing to me and I can sing back. Through them I learn of the decay of this world. I do not want to leave and let them rot alone with your life."
"My life is what gives the oceans their mystique."
"Wrong. It eats away at their very essence. If you could just see what marvellous beings they are... but I will not change what is done. Maybe they'll change form and I know them by other names."
"Fine. Go. No one will remember you, the time traveller that arrived in 2084."
"I'll see you in time."

And he plunged into the ocean, one of the two last ones. And the ocean devoured him.
