walk hard:

the dewey cox story
(columbia pictures, 2007)
direction | jake kasdan
cast | john c. reilly, jenna fischer

i think i have nothing else to say except that walk hard is the best so far i've seen this year.

it is a comedy about the life of american singer dewey cox. i really really wish i could tell more but... i suggest you watch the film first. don't wikipedia or google it or something. just go watch it. don't spoil the fun for yourself. just trust me why. once you've seen it, then we can start talking about it and laugh more about it. clue: it's something to do with the concept of the film. *wink*

its humor is exaggerated and perverted but surely is bearable and enjoyable. it is outright funny and if you've seen walk the line before, you'd probably be laughing more.

favorite scenes:
* a male concert coordinator: where is dewey cox??? dewey cox!!! I NEED COX!!!
* the first time he caught his drummer smoking pot
* dewey and darlene singing let's duet with the sexual tension between them

walk hard is currently shown exclusive to ayala cinemas. so hurry, make time for this film. it's all worth the hundred and thirty bucks.

heart-o-meter:
true love!

horton hears a who!
(20th century fox, 2008)
direction | jimmy hayward
cast | jim carey, steve carrel, carol burnett

love love love the film! the best animation since, umm, the incredibles. love horton the elephant. love the mayor. love the weird creature friends of horton. love whoville. love jojo. love steve carrel. love the humor.

best of all, love the message!!! VERY applicable to the current state of our country. i commend seemingly innocent animation films like horton that are able to inject deep socio-political messages.

favorite scenes:
*2d animation of horton's imagination which looked like a spoof of japanese animes
*horton crossing the hanging bridge
*horton searching for the speck in a field of a million flowers (this scene broke my heart and made me cry)
*final musical sequence: just can't fight this feeling anymore... i've forgotten what i've started fighting for...

heart-o-meter:
true love!
