Okay so there was a long distance call to my house just now and I was excited b/c maybe Min Min was calling me or something, but instead I was the receiver of some exciting news!!!
"YOU HAVE JUST WON A CRUISE, PRESS 9 FOR FURTHER DETAILS!!". The second I heard these words my heart was racing, I mean I'm going to Shanghai and Hong Kong at the end of the month and then when I get back I get to go on a cruise too??? How could I not turn down this offer?

So as soon as I heard "press 9" you know what I did. So shortly after that I was put on hold and was forced to listen to crappy elevator music. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. Anyways, some guy finally picks up. From the sound of his voice you just know he's the type to have his hair slicked back like a greasy used cars salemen. We all know this type of person. Anywyas I couldn't tell what he first said but i just answered with a safe "Hello." which he then proceeded to interograte me with questions like "Is this about the cruise?" to which I replied with "Umm...I can't remember. I was put on hold for so long. Maybe?". After hearing that he then laughed and asked "were you really put on hold, did you press 9?". I responded with "I think so, might have been 7 or 6, my short term memory isn't all that sharp, however, I do remember that the phone message said that I won a cruise!".

And it was from this point on that this sleaze bag tried to squeeze out credit card information from me by saying "In order to claim this prize you need to be a part of this club (however he failed to mention the name of the club and I wasn't fast enough to ask what the name of the club was :(), so I will need either your Visa or Mastercard information, provided you're over the age of 21.".

By this point I was kind of laughing too much in my head, all the while being disgusted with what this guy was trying to do, so I wasn't able to think of many witty comebacks. Anyways, I was like "I'm turning 21 in a few days, can you make an exception?", but then he said "Oh, I thought you were the parent, can I talk with one of them?". To which I said "No. They're too poor to afford paying interest on credit cards so they don't have any. But that shouldn't matter since the message said I won the cruise, not my parents." Then he said "But the message was for your parents." To which I said "Then how come it said I won a cruise and not Mary or Brad (i made up the names). It said I won. I want to go on a cruise." To which he promptly said "You have to be 21" and hung up.

Arg I hate dealing with these pathetic people. Can't people find a more honest way to make money? It's these type deceitful scum that make up the lowest common denominator of filth that make the world a shitty place.

On the brightside, I costed him some money by keeping him on the phone for a few minutes on a long distance call :D
