i put the art in retarded

so yesterday i was riding my bike home from fhain and decided to take a few detours from my normal route. ended up riding by a cafe at zionskirchplatz and literally stopped in my tracks because i saw someone sitting there who i knew. i couldn't place from where. but i instantly recognized him and he looked like some very all-american guy i knew from business school or one internship or another. so anyway, i could have sworn to god that we knew each other from SOMEWHERE! and i was thinking how i always bump into the most random people i used to know in the states in berlin. so there i am, stopped in my tracks and i'm like, "hey! what's up? what are you doing here?" absolutely no recognition in his face. whatsoever. "don't i know you from austin, or new york or something? the internship at saatchi?" still nothing. so after a few more city-naming, he looks more puzzled than ever, asks me for my name and introduces himself as "dominic". and then i realize he has a very slight accent, so i'm like, fuck. i soooo don't know this guy! and then i tell him he looks *exactly* like some guy i used to know. he says sorry and wishes me a nice day. i (completely and utterly mortified) immediately flee from the scene. literally two pedals of my bike later, it hits me where i know him from. and i burst out laughing. he used to play this character in one of the cheesy german soap operas i on occasion watch for the novelty factor. DIIIEEEE!!!! so there goes my first real berlin celebrity spotting of the year. it really doesn't get much more peinlich than that.
