So. Due to laziness, disregard for NY resolutions and a messed up sleeping schedule, I've missed work today and watched Sherlock instead. (#such adult, #so responsible) And I believe this deserves a post. Keep in mind that this is pretty much fresh after watching it once, so it's more emotional, less thought through and I might have missed some details.
Regardless, it's all under the cut for spoilering reasons. Also, if you love Sherlock and find no fault in this show, you might not want to read that.
First of all: I kind of liked it? More than I expected, to be honest. But I was not blown away.
Okay, first, the things that I liked:
> DIMMOCK. THERE WAS DIMMOCK. Did you miss his cameo, because I sure didn't! I've missed him though! I thought he will never show up again! AND YET! AND YET! Good thing there was no Anderson in this episode (still hoping for next two), because I'd peed myself, overflown by happiness.
> MARY. Mary was amazing. I love that woman so much. I was offering to steal her from John and marry her myself about every ten minutes of the episode. This amount of love probably spoils you for what is in my shitty list, but there you go. Let's celebrate her greateness in this part of the post, shall we?
> Greg Lestrade. Dating. Smiling. Being grumpy about all the credit. Greg Lestrade being amazing. I already saw posts on tumblr that were like "Lestrade is the only man on this show I trust rn" and I'm so glad people are seeing the light that is Greg. ♥ I would appreciate more of him... Maybe not even like more scenes, but actually one, full plot-line with him and less of chopped scenes here and there, but I will take what I'm given. He is precious and his smile brightened up 2017 already.
> The old lady behind the whole mess. OMG. I know she had a name and I will learn it, I promise, but for now I just wanted to say I love her. And at the end, how she went full bond villain on them and also just went for the kill, because they said she won't. And she actually said 'surprise!'. JFC, I love that lady! ♥
> Mycroft Holmes. Being weird about babies and people. Wrestling Sherlock for the phone. Being the wikipedia. Keeping his legs on the desk, why would he do that, I feel like he acts most smug, annoying, ovebearing around Sherlock, just to annoy him. Away from Sherlock he is such a calm, steady guy.
> MYSTRADE HAVING A SCENE. LOCKING EYES AGAIN. It was pretty much like in the special episode, while in Sherlock's mind. He totally sees what's going on there, oh yeah.
> Molly being a cutie. I'm so glad Rosie has her as a godmom and a baby-sitter. That girl will need some good role models in the future.
> Rosie. Rosie in the bunny outfit. Rosie doing her own interpretation of the Exorcits. ROSIE. If anyone hurts this child, I will hurt them.
> Mary in different disguises <3 So cool. Of course Sherlock had to ruin it, but whatever.
> This is more of just an observation/admittion, but I enjoyed it, so... I ship Sherlock/Mary so hard. SO HARD.
> The actual story being told from begining to an end. Limited amount of time jumping, which annoyed the living shit out of me in few previous episodes.
Is that all? I guess. I said I liked it more than I expected, but it mostly means I didn't hate it as much as I expected. *shrugs*
Things I didn't like:
> Mary's death. Mary's speech before dying. Mary's message to Sherlock. Mary's complete and utter devotion to John in general. Do you ever meet a couple, when Person A (usually a girl in my experience) is besotted and Person B actually doesn't deserve 2% of that devotion and are a total wanker, but also feeling totally entitled to that devotion? And you just hope Person A will see the light and save themselves? Sadly, Mary didn't.
> No Sally :( I know we get Stella instead and I'm happy for Stella, but I miss Sally.
> Mystrade still not having a conversation.
> Everybody talking about saving/protecting/loving John Watson. Ugh. That awful feeling when you hate a character with a burning passion and everybody talks about how great he is.
> I know how the whole Sherlock fandom is all "Sherlock is not about cases.", but I sure af miss the cases and them being normal and not a international conspiracies. You know, House was not about medicine either, but we still gto the patient of the week, right?
> Not even a hint of Jim Moriarty. Like, I know he's dead, but I do in fact miss him terribly and I was hoping for more of that tape or some shit like that.
Now, the thing is, to continue this list I should get on the things I dislike about John and I feel like this should maybe be a seperate bit altogether.
A person whom I hated in season 4 and his actions that I hated as well:
> John Fucking Watson. OMG. You think my dislike could not get worse after season 3, but you're wrong. SO WRONG.
Things I disliked about John this season (besides his continued existance):
> Mensplaing the Exorctist/Omen thing. No one cares John. No one.
> Putting a tracker on his wife. If you two idiots just trusted her, omg.
> Barely being shown with his own fucking daughter. He seems always so shocked he is expected to take care of her. If there's not Mary around there's Molly or even Sherlock, but no John.
> Cheating on Mary. Seriously. Seriously. Your life is still too boring, John? UGH.
Side note on hating John's fans: Do you know there are already posts about how sad it is that Mary died before John managed to confess and now he will feel so guilty? Oh, how rude of her to inconvience him in such way.
> Being angry at Sherlock for not protecting Mary. Literally saying that he is angry, because Sherlock broke the vow. And apparently breaking vows is wrong. *insert here a flashback to John cheating on his wife* Ladies and Gentlemen, John H. Watson. H stands for hypocrite.
Not to even mention that Sherlock did his best and had little to no influence over his vow being broken. John just couldn't keep it in his pants.
> Most of all I hate how John still remains the nice gut that everybody feels for. And apparently all of his appaling characteristics are just a sign of him being human. WEIRD HOW CHARACTER FLAWS NEVER HUMANISED MARY. Weird how she literally had to bleed out telling John how much she loved him and how he was her everything, after spending a whole ep trying to save her family and just get some peace, and then get a message to Sherlock about how he needs to save John, practically giving her blessing to the fandom's main ship, so the fans could go "eh, I guess she wasn't that bad". Fuck you, assholes.
In conclusion. If John ever dies, I will have a party. The episode was really lame, but Rosie and Mycroft are still alive and Mary was not turned into Moriary's bride, so it was not as bad as I expected. The fandom in general sucks ass and is full of horrible, horrible people. Small bits and tiny parts of fandom are still good and addictive, though. I hope Lestrade will smile again. See you in a week, after the second episode, because obviously I will continue to torture myself. If Johnlock becomes canon, I have planned a month of mourning.
